The IKF is happy to announce the appointment of Mr Nikola Kristek (Prague, Czech Republic ) as its first Executive Director per 1 July 2002. The new position was created following an ongoing restructuring process in which the IKF is to adopt a new structure by the end of 2003.
Mr Kristek showed his satisfaction with the actions of the IKF : "Since I am the first Executive Director , and not a citizen of the founding countries the Netherlands and Belgium, this shows the true international spirit of korfball. I am very glad I can work for this organization.""
Mr Bob de Die, IKF President, was also happy with the appointment: "This is a first and major step toward a structure that will enable the IKF to meet the challenges of the 21 st Century and I am confident that Nikola will prove to be the right person for this post" Mr Kristek has been the Secretary General of the Czech Korfball Association since 1998. The Czech Korfball Association announced that Mr Kristek will be succeeded by Mr Jiri Veselsky as the CKA's Secretary General. Mr Kristek will be working from Prague. The main IKF address and office will remain at its present location in Bunnik, The Netherlands.
