Brief description of the IKF events

World Games
30+ sports at their best!
To more than thirty five different sports, The World Games are the pinnacle in the competition calendar, providing the common stage for their very best athletes to aim for excellence and celebrate unity and friendship across all boundaries. Is held every four years.

IKF World Championship (IKF WC)
- the most important IKF event.
- includes the participation of 16 countries.
- held every four years.

IKF U23 World Championship (IKF U23 WC)
- the most important IKF event for U23 athletes.
- includes the participation of 12 countries.
- held every four years.

IKF European Championship (IKF EC)
- the second biggest korfball event, behind the IKF World Championship.
- includes the participation of 16 countries.
- held every four years.

IKF European Bowl
- IKF event, being used as a qualification event for the IKF European Championship and the IKF World Championship.

IKF Asian-Oceanian Championship (IKF AOC)
- IKF event held every four years.

IKF African Championship (IKF AC)
- IKF event held every four years.

IKF AOKF Asia Korfball Championship
- IKF Recognized event held every four years.

IKF U21 European Championship (IKF U21 EC)
- the most important IKF event for U21 athletes from Europe.
- held every four years.

IKF U23 Asian-Oceanian Championship (IKF U23 AOC)
- the most important IKF event for U21 athletes from Asia and Oceania.
- held every four years.

IKF Europa Cup (ECup)
- the premier international event for the clubs as opposed to the national teams in Europe.
- held yearly; first rounds take place in September / October, final round in January.

IKF Europa Shield (ES)
- IKF recognized event, in which the clubs that finished second and third in the national leagues of the European B-countries and teams from top C-countries compete.
- held yearly last weekend in January.

University World Cup (UWC)
- an international championship for national students teams.
- IKF Patronised event held yearly.

U23 World Cup
- IKF Patronised event held yearly in first weekend in February.

U19 Junior World Cup
- IKF Patronised event held yearly in Easter weekend.

U16 Talent World Cup
- IKF Patronised event held yearly 1 week before Easter.

European University Championship (EUCK)
- IKF Patronised event held yearly in different locations across Europe.
- Maximum of 24 teams may take part with limit of 6 teams per a country.

Friendly international matches
- are organized by national korfball organizations.

Special events
- are organized with support of the IKF.
