Coaching and refereeing courses for the Asian continent were organised in Jaipur recently in collaboration with the Korfball Federation of India.

The lecturers of the courses were Mr Jan-Sjouke Van den Bos (The Netherlands) who is the current national coach of the Dutch senior team and Mr Frank Buvens (Belgium) IKF council member and chairman of the IKF Referee Committee.

Manager for the courses was Mr Mukesh Khandelwal (Head coach national team KFI) and he was assisted by Mr. Rajesh Saini (referee course).

The courses conducted were official IKF recognised courses and after successfully completing the exam the applicants were awarded a certificate. There were 24 attendees for the coach course and 14 attendees for the referee course from India, Malaysia and Nepal.

As the weather was good throughout the course the participants made use of outdoor as well as indoor facilities.

During practical sessions many topics were handled and the referees covered such topics as position and running lines of the referee and his assistant; physical tests for referees, assertiveness and updates on recent rule changes.

It is the intention to invite the referees who followed the course to The Netherlands and Belgium for further clinics.
