Proceedings in Belarus were started on Monday 2nd November when a meeting was conducted to set up the Belarussian Korfball Federation. Its official statutes were submitted to the government authorities and the logo of the Federation was prepared also.

During this meeting goals of the Federation were discussed and it was stressed strongly that the well being and health of players would be one of the strongest motivations to promote and introduce korfball into the country. Further goals will be to introduce korfball into the neighboring countries and to grow korfball within Belarus itself.

The Federation has chosen as its President Mr. Sergey Alekseev. 

Following the meeting the IKF conducted an “Introduction to Korfball” course in Belarus which was instructed by Mr. Rob Lof and Mr. Ferry Visser from 2nd and 6th November.

In the afternoon of Monday 2nd November a korfball demonstration for 67 participants was held under the supervision of the instructors who are both very experienced korfball educators.
In total 42 physical educational teachers also attended the course which was aiming to educate participants to further develop the sport within the schools and clubs.

The goal of the course was to teach the main elements of korfball as a sport and empower the participants to be able to give basic lessons in korfball and its rules.

The work with teachers was very fruitful as the participants quickly displayed their enthusiasm and showed that they understood the game and enjoyed it very much.

Special thanks to Mr. Jan Kuipers who has donated to the Belarussian Korfball Federation 50 korfs to begin this project.

The Belarus Federation also showed excellent organisation from Mr. Sergey Alekseev to coordinate the entire visit.  A TV interview with the educators was organized and a very well skilled translator with sporting background was provided to assist the instructors in relaying their message to the local audience.
