The results of the third day of the Europa Cup 2010 finals in Herentals (BEL):
Trojans - Ceske Budejovice Adler Rauxel - CC de Oeiras Szentendre KK - DOS ’46 Engeldot Boeckenberg KC - Orel STU
Trojans - Ceske Budejovice
The first game on day 3 of the Europa Cup in Herentals was between Trojans and Ceske Budejovice with both teams wanting to win to avoid playing for 7th / 8th place. Ceske Budejovice started well going up 2-1 after the first 5 minutes, but some good play by Trojans saw them level at 3-3 after the first quarter. However, some accurate shooting by Jakub Blaha saw Ceske Budejovice finish the half 7-4 up. The second half began with each team trading goals until about 20 minutes remaining with Ceske Budejovice coring 4 without reply to go 14-7 up. Trojans then began to find the korf and pulled three goals back to close the gap 14-10, but again Ceske Budejovice took their chances running out winners at the final whistle 19-12. Jakub Blaha scored 9 goals from open play helping Ceske Budejovice go into the 5th / 6th play off on finals day.
Adler Rauxel - Clube Corfebol de Oeiras
The second game of the day saw Adler Rauxel take on CC de Oeiras. The game started cautiously with the first goal of the game coming in the 6th minute to Adler Rauxel. They scored the next two taking the game to 3-0 after 10 minutes. Goals were then traded before Adler Rauxel called a time out at the quarter time. Goals continued to be scored by both teams with the half time score being 8-5 in favour of Adler Rauxel. The second half saw 3 goals from Adler Rauxel without reply stretching their lead to 11-5 before CC de Oeiras scored 11 minutes into the half. Goals were scored by both teams with CC de Oeiras coming within two goals when the score was 13-11 with 8 minutes to go. A time out and a substitution for Adler Rauxel gave them the opportunity to stretch their lead to 16-11 after 3 goals with no reply with two minutes to go. Goals by both teams in the final two minutes resulted the final score 19-13 in favour of Adler Rauxel.
Szentendre KK - DOS ’46 Engeldot
The next game was between Szentendre KK and DOS ’46 Engeldot. DOS ’46 Engeldot managed to slot home 9 goals before Szentendre KK managed to find the korf. Before a time out was called by Szentendre KK at the quarter mark, DOS ’46 Engeldot has stretched their lead to 13-2. Four more goals for the side from The Netherlands were found without reply before Szentendre KK found 3 themselves without reply from DOS ’46 Engeldot making the score 17-5 after 20 minutes. Some good shooting followed taking the scoreline to 24-6 in favour of DOS ’46 Engeldot at the half time mark. The next 20 minutes saw DOS ’46 Engeldot stretch their lead by 10 goals before Szentendre KK had a reply and the game continued in this manner to the end of the game with DOS ’46 Engeldot running out winners with a 42-8 victory. Herjan Van Eijk and Petra Leijten scored 7 and 8 goals respectively for DOS ’46 Engeldot whilst Tamas Dzsida scored 5 (including a penalty) for Szetendre KK.
Boeckenberg KC - Orel STU
The final game in the group stages saw Boeckenberg KC take on Orel STU. Boeckenberg KC raced into the lead scoring 10 goals before Orel STU could reply in the 10th minute. Their second goal came 10 minutes later followed by two quick goals by Sara Goossens to take the score to 14-3 ahead of the 5 minute real play time. Three goals by Orel STU and a few by Boeckenberg KC saw the teams finish the half 19-6 in favour of Boeckenberg KC. The second half saw Boeckenberg KC score 6 goals without reply before Orel STU found the basket following their time out in the 37th minute. As the minutes passed by, Boeckenberg KC increased their lead with Orel STU only finding the korf 3 times in the final 20 minutes. The game had an exciting climax as Boeckenberg KC eached 40 goals to finish the game 40-13 winners. Veronique Biot and Jesse de Bremaeker scored 8 and7 goals from open play respectively for Boeckenberg KC.
